Because that was the age-group record (15-16). When he directly competed with Phelps and Locate, he came in a near third (about 1.5 seconds out, which is about ¾ of a body length).
Sadly, Justin seems to have fallen out of swimming, after failing to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics. No word if he’ll try for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
TL;DR: If you disagree with someones opinion, either say you disagree with that statement *respectfully*, or provide credible evidence that proves it wrong. Anything else, and you’re acting like a dick. And incidentally, a two-thousand year+ religious text is not credible evidence.
I kinda have problems with using Appeal to Authority. That’s the point of moving education and knowledge forward, is to appeal to those with more knowledge than yourself. It just kind of feels anti-intellectual to me.
I think that is the only one I had trouble with, but also.. which authority?
If one is talking about Space science and one sites an Official Nasa scientist, sure, ok.. I can get behind that.
If it’s that whacko out in Nevada with his steam powered rocket? Ha, sorry, no fucko.
But the latter isn’t an expert, it just seems like it’s just one of the easier fallacies to abuse for nefarious purposes.
(Mostly because I’ve seen a LOT of anti-LGBT and MAGA types using it as a reason to not listen to scientific/sociological experts)
