I agree, but I also agree that it’s a little suspect that it’s really only the princesses of color who aren’t getting love interests. I think it could be fixed if there was an influx of princesses of color in general with varying love interests or lack thereof.

idk… it could disney realising that people want to see a) more princesses that arent just white and b) films about princesses who arent only considered happy by “finding a man” & it shouldnt be the main thing young girls aspire to
like in brave, that didnt have a love interest, same as moana. idk about frozen (never saw it tbh) but i think elsa didnt have one either.
maybe its too early to tell. im not a massive disney fan so im not trying to excuse them or anything, i just dont see it as a big trend tbh. maybe see if it continues as a trend (if they stop with just doing remakes lmao) but. yeah.
& honestly i cant say im complaining that more princess films are having plots that have more interesting morals & journeys than falling in love.
I actually like what someone else said, which is that they’re listening to two groups at once and it’s bad timing. We want less love interests AND we want more princesses of color. They just happened at once but yes it can come off racist.

Don’t forget there’s been both WoC princesses with love interests (Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas [as fucked up as it is]), as well as the very white princess Merida, who’s whole plot is “I dun need a fookin’ man”.
This is a very important distinction, just because the recent princesses haven’t had love interest and are POC, it doesn’t mean that all their POC princesses haven’t had or won’t get love interests. Disney have had both. I think whether or not a future princess in a Disney movie having a love interest or not should serve the story, not the other way around. The story should not have to have a love-interest shoehorned into the story if it is not necessary. Representation matters, now we just need a princess with a female love interest so the “conservatives” heads will explode.
I think that’s my biggest beef with the Princess thing. For all the princesses we’ve had, a couple would have been lesbian, a few would be bi, and at least one would have been trans. Yet every single one is straight.

honestly the idea of sarek just like…collecting children is so funny to me because the more children he has, the more ridiculous spock is for never mentioning any of them
like imagine one day spock takes jim to visit his family and jim is like…….spock….there are thirty people here, wtf….and spock is just like yup
broke: spock doesn’t talk about his family bc he’s closed off and weird about it
woke: spock doesn’t talk about his family cos he can’t fucking keep track of how many relatives he has
Kirk: “ You have a (insert relative here)?!”
Spock: “I mean…I guess so.”
Sarek is basically Batman.
“I NEED ALL THE SPACE ORPHANS”
I was thinking tho, Michael as an unmentioned sibling for Spock, it seemed so familiar to me… then I remembered.
So this is the character Halo as she appears in the comics, vs her redesign in the show.
And at first when I saw her design, I thought they just gave her outfit a hood cause it looks cool, but in the new trailer we see her and the other Outsiders in their civilian clothes, and she’s wearing a hijab.
So the hood on her costume ISN’T just a fashion statement, it’s literally a Superhero Hijab. They took this fairly obscure character and not only racebent her, but even went the extra mile and made her Muslim. We’re gonna see a female superhero of color who is Muslim and wears a hijab both in and out of costume, in a family show that kids will watch. And that’s Pretty Fuckin Sweet if u ask me.
The nuts and bolts version; Sinister got himself killed, but him being a megalomaniac geneticist, created what were essentially DNA backups in different mutants and humans (IIRC, one of them was even Charles Xavier). The one who actually activates is Claudine Renko, she becomes Miss Sinister, does stuff with the Hellfire Club, has a pretty decent arc henching against X-23. Then Mr Sinister comes back, and Claudine gets her body back (but still has powers and is still mostly evil). So yeah, mostly a clone, in a similar way that X-23 is a clone of Wolverine.
