What comics do you like to read? I myself could never get into mainstream marvel and DC so a lot of what I read is either indie comics (webcomics), image comics, 2000ad, lesser known marvel comics like 5 ronin, vertigo DC. Can you recommend me some mainstream marvel or DC stuff?

Really depends on what you’re into. I mean, I really want to recommend all the X-Men books and all, but most of that is because of my decades long attachment. 

Currently, outside of the X-Books, I’ve been really enjoying Runaways, Champions and West Coast Avengers. They tend to be less “Superhero-y” and more quirky ensemble cast stories. I’m reading Batwoman because it’s being co-wrote by a friend of mine from an old fanfic forum I used to be part of.

I will always suggest (and some of these are older and over sadly);

Umbrella Academy

Doom Patrol (all generations)

Shazam! Monster Society of Evil by Jeff Smith (also, highly recommend Bone from Jeff as well, I was an Ohio State student when he was doing the original run)

Warren Ellis’ Planetary and NextWave

Jason Pearson’s Body Bags

I Kill Giants (this one is a graphic novel so it’s a one and done)

Rat Queens

Outside of that, I read a lot of manga and catching up on the classics out of Europe like Astrix, 2000AD and everything by Moebius.

One tip I have, if you have a digital device (like a phone or tablet), grab the Comixology app and read the freebies they offer to see what strikes your fancy, or if you can afford it, their Unlimited system, it’s around $6USD/month, and you can download and read everything that’s listed as Unlimited. Then find writers you like, I always suggest @1979semifinalist, @jamesthefourth, @mattfractionblog, Grant Morrison, Gerard Way (yes, the My Chemical Romance guy) and @warrenellis.

So, these are the new looks for Superman and Diana in the Post-Convergence universe.

Clark looks like an adult Kon-El. Not going to lie, I’m fine with that.

LOVE Diana’s new loo. Tho I’m not sure about the pauldrons, I think they’re a little too, simplified. I wish they had a more old Greek look.

Normally I’d be skeptical of such a wide-ranging cast — seems spread a little thin, y’know? — but with G. Willow Wilson in charge it can’t go wrong.

With Karolina in the book I REALLY hope that Julie Power will be in the cast right alongside her, being superhero girlfriends together  😀

Sam, look! Moondragon, Karolina, and Natasha, 2 canon lesbians and at minimum one canon bi lady (depends on how in canon Monica’s comments about Janet in NextWave are, there’s could be 2 bi ladies).

Now, to everyone on Tumblr who’s all excited about it. Buy the fucking book, if you can afford it, buy multiple copies and use the extras to lure friends into comics.

This book is going to need to maintain more books per month than most, because it is such a “niche book” to the publishers. Keep it alive like X-Men, like Capt Marvel and Ms Marvel, buy it like your life depends on it. Because this book’s life depends on us buying it.
