I’ve been seeing friends posting and reblogging animated gifs from Yuru Yuri. I need to express that it is, in fact, one of my favorite things ever.
So as a primer, for those of you who don’t read or watch Yuru Yuri. It’s a very adorable slice of life, shoujo-ai manga by the fantastic mangaka, Namori (her pixiv is here) that runs in Yuri Hime magazine.
It’s about a group of middle school girls who take over the unused tea ceremony club room, and they create “The Amusement Club”. Now, this aside, I do want to warn people jumping in, it is not licensed in the US so you will have to depend on scanslations (but please buy the originals if you can afford it, this is something worth supporting).
It’s very cute, and funny. Sadly, it’s not like Sakura Trick or other overtly “yuri” stuff, there are a lot of crushes but the vast majority are one-sided and unrequited (Chinatsu’s feelings for Yui is a good example). Tho, in the world of Yuru Yuri, there are requited loves (example; Sakurako’s sister, Nadeshiko does have a girlfriend).

Then there is Namori’s “Yuri Yuri” series. According to her blogs and stuff, these take place in the same time and place as Yuru Yuri, just at different schools. These stories are more overtly yuri, and still have Namori’s flair.

Bonus: I wanted to include this one because it’s so painfully adorable. It’s not part of Yuru Yuri at all, but I adore it, and yeah…
