Yes, the closeup is my Kirin, Setsuko.

Yes, the “human” girl lost the use of her right eye pretty much the same way I did. Just as a heads up, if your stepfather swings a socket wrench at your head, duck.

So yeah, I did Setsuko’s colors, I’m liking it for the most part. I may rework her hair some.

Soooo… I decided to draw my Kirin, Song, again. Then I kinda realized, after all this time, trying to create a story around her, I already had one that she’d fit into. And she finally has a name; Abashi Setsuko.

She is a vat grown person (derogatorily referred to as; Pooka), VGP’s were originally created by combining human and animal DNA, to create an expendable workforce/military by industrialized nations. Unfortunately over time, these corporations realized they would make even more money on the private market, and arose “comfort Pooka”. The good thing, people rose up and demanded these people to be freed. Sadly the Hybrids (as they come to call themselves) were originally engineered to be sterile, but nature finds a way, as about 20% of early generation Hybrids were able to reproduce. Other Hybrids who wanted offspring would be able to have non-sterilized children grown from their DNA. To some people’s surprise, while amazingly rare (about 1 in 400,000), non-sterile Hybrids and humans have had children together.

Satsuko is what is called a “Vanity Pooka”, as her mother grew older, she wanted a companion, and used her own DNA as a donor to create a daughter. Mythic-type Hybrids were originally created just as living sales brochures, now they only seem to exist as high end vanity offspring. She lives with her “mother”, on the satellite colony Joukai (official name Abashi-Wyatt LP5A1 Permanent Orbital Colony) who insists she lives a traditional Japanese life. Satsuko tends to be a bit stand-offish around others, she is also formal in speech and manners, which sets her out of place at The Academy. (More on The Academy later)

At this point, she’s about 15-16, her skin is going to be a shimmery silver, and the texture will be, fine, soft scales similar to certain kinds of salamanders. Her body temperature is generally higher than average (around 99.8°F), yet her heart rate tends to be a bit slower. I haven’t decided yet if she has fetlocks or if she is tri or tetradactyl.

Soooo, I bought a couple bust commissions from GhostGreen. She did up my Qilin Song, and the protagonist of my (on hiatus) story Chorus de Astri, Ellen.

After a long string of disappointments, this.. yeah, I’m actually crying.

I’m playing with designs for my Qilin, Song, and wanted to get some input on her coloring, because I don’t have a bloody clue.

either note, email, reblog, whichever with your choice, and we’ll see which one people like the most.

So yeah, i’ve been playing with my story idea and I’m realizing, Sci-Fi may not be the best route. Also, the main character (right) didn’t really fit because who she’s based on, a “monster” seems more fitting for the RL person’s insert.

Random question: Your OC’s hair, shaved, natural pattern, or something preventing the hair from growing there (scar, disease, etc)?

It grows that way on her. Most Qilin (as well as their sister species the D’Jinn and Lung) can grow full heads of hair. Song has a recessive gene that causes her hair to grow similar to their ancestral mothers.

All BS aside, at this point I’m still playing with designs for the species. I’m 75% satisfied, the hair and antlers are what’s really killing me.
