Why do I love Ant Man so much?
Because little Cassie Lang is totally me when I was her age
And because of that ending, that Scott Lang doesn’t have to become some brooding superhero, that he gains his family – not just his daughter but his ex wife and her new boyfriend too – that instead of two men who could easily have some alpha male competition to embarrass each other, you have two men who can compromise and understand that they both have a place in Cassie’s life because they both put her first
I love this film for presenting that in this post-nuclear family model world that things can work, that family isn’t just mom, dad, and kids, but you can be divorced parents and be friends and have good step-parents
I love this film doesn’t make Scott better so his ex wife runs back to him but rather Scott simply joins the family as a member
I love how that ending just defies what had become so stale and cliché in Hollywood films
Scott Lang didn’t have to be brooding to become a superhero, he could be happy, he could be a hero for his little girl, and he can join this new family unit they’ve become
And Cassie instead of having just a superhero dad now has two heroic and good men in her life who will run into the line of fire to defend her
What a lucky little girl
All of this

Yknow, in the last gif, the camera is centered on the crack under the door. I hope to The King, Scott slides and shrinks through the opening.
